The Palanga Orthodox Church of the Mother of God of Iveron (Palangos Iveros Dievo Motinos ikonos cerkvė) is a relatively young but architecturally stunning building, consecrated in 2001. Built to serve the local Orthodox community, it has since become one of the city's most aesthetic gems. The church is designed in the traditional Russian Orthodox style, yet its vibrant sky-blue facade and golden domes lend it a festive and airy atmosphere that perfectly complements Palanga's seaside vibe.
The sanctuary's interior is as impressive as its exterior. The walls and ceilings are adorned with exquisite frescoes painted by master artists from Russia. Particular attention should be paid to the iconostasis, which is handcrafted from light wood, creating a warm and luminous atmosphere. The church is named in honor of the Iveron Icon of the Mother of God, a copy of which is the primary shrine in this temple. Due to its excellent acoustics, spiritual chants frequently resonate here, offering visitors a sense of profound peace.
Located slightly away from the bustling city center on Sodų Street, the church has become a sanctuary for those seeking silence and spiritual respite. The grounds around the church feature a meticulously maintained garden with flowers and benches where visitors can linger in reflection. Despite being an active house of worship, the church is open to all who wish to admire its architecture or experience its unique, sacred ambiance.
